Mars Gantry: Flash "Demo": Version 11052011

Hello!

Here is the latest version of the Mars Gantry "demo". I've colour graded the scene, as well as adding more detail. Navigation is achieved using the arrow keys. You may need to click the demo once to make it interactive.

As always, please let me know how you think this is going!

Enjoy!

  1. Got some stretching it seems on the hexagon texture. At the beginning you look at the side and they are stretched horizontally, move forward and look at the sides they are closer to a hexagon, slightly stretched vertical, then they are stretched again in the horizontal on the sides on the next step. Currently can't launch JMP for some reason to compare, but I would think they would at least be uniform across the board.

  2. Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the feedback - I must admit that I've stared at this so much over the last week that sometimes it's hard to spot the obvious. After you pointed it out though I had a bit of a d'oh moment.

I'll work to iron out the kinks :)

  3. Was is intentional for the symbols and the red/yellow stripes to not show up until the movement stopped? Other wise I like the speeding down the gantry.

  4. Please keep up the good work, as I've been a fan of The journeyman project for a long time now, and have wanted to see the games re-done to today's 3d standards.

  5. Hey Bryan,

No that wasn't intentional; it's a by-product of the corridor render taking 4 hours ;) The flash file is updated every day as I add new frames, detail etc, but it takes around 5 minutes per frame. Even just the 3 second walking animations take about 3 hours to re-render, so I'm updating the static shots but will only update the walking anims etc every week to two weeks.

Please keep pointing out things as you see them though, and I'll keep them on the hit list :)

  6. Hey Steven!

Many thanks for your comment - I will indeed keep up the good work :) I've been wanting an up-to-date version of JMP for a long time as well, and in the end decided to launch the project myself :)

I'm really glad you like the work so far!
