Helping with Rendering

Hello!

I've been helping "crunch" renders on www.renderfarm.fi for a good while now, and use this service myself for the big rendering jobs/tests (especially at hires).  It is a free service to both render and contribute too.

At this time, I have set up a rendering "team" called Journeyman Project Tribute, and would be incredibly grateful if you could sign up for a FREE account, download BOINC onto your PC and start crunching :)

BOINC uses the resources of your PC to render other projects (including Journeyman runs).  You can set how much of your processor you want to use, or in multicore PCs how many of the cores to use for rendering.

If you sign up, please comment here so I can add you to the Jourmeyman team.  It would be great if we could all contribute; not only would we be helping render Journeyman scenes faster, but helping other artists as well :)

Best,

Andy

  1. Hi! I created the account on http://www.renderfarm.fi, joined the Journeyman Project Tribute Team and downloaded the Boinc Manager. But the project is not currently available on the Boinc Manager. What can I do?

    1. Hi tecssil,

Many thanks, I can see that you have joined the JMPT team :)

Were you able to add the project to BOINC? Have you processed any jobs as yet?

      Thanks!

    1. Hi blitter,

If you go into your profile on renderfarm.fi you will see a link to show all renderfarm teams. Go here and search for Journeyman - it's the only team on there with this title. Click join team :)

Once you have joined the team, try to process jobs using BOINC and let me know how you get on.

      Thanks!

      Andy

    1. Hi Wongfive,

You can either add the project by following the instructions here (http://www.renderfarm.fi/boinc) or if that does not work, add the project through the command prompt as follows:

      The command is

      boinccmd --project_attach http://www.renderfarm.fi

where is your account key, found under your profile - BOINC settings.

  11. Couldn't add renderfarm.fi to BOINC on my Macbook, but I'll try it on my Windows desktop soon. There doesn't seem to be a command-line argument similar to the one given above. Oh well, my desktop is much better anyway, so we'll see.
